Sometimes the hardest part of rescue is recognising that a much-loved dog may be happier in a different environment.

Today we'd like to introduce you to Blue, a handsome 4-year-old black and tan German Shepherd who is looking for a special home where he can enjoy the things he loves most — his people, his walks, his routine and plenty of space to be a Shepherd.

Blue is described by his family as a calm and quiet boy who enjoys having a predictable daily routine. He knows his basic commands including sit, stay, no, eat, go to bed, toilet and walk - and if there's one word that really gets his attention, it's WALK!

He is fully toilet trained and has never toileted inside the home. He can be left alone for up to around seven hours without accidents and settles beautifully into his evening routine. After dinner, Blue enjoys some quiet time before settling down for the night. If he needs to go outside during the night, he'll let his people know.

Blue is also active, playful, protective and very strong. He loves getting out for walks, running around the yard and, apparently, having a fabulous time playing with water! He'll happily take as many walks as you're willing to give him.

WHAT KIND OF HOME DOES BLUE NEED?

Blue would be best suited to a Shepherd-savvy home where he can receive plenty of one-on-one attention, exercise, structure and enrichment.

He can live with:

- Children aged 10 years and over
- Larger female dogs — Blue has lived successfully with other German Shepherds and has generally been comfortable around larger dogs.

However, Blue must not live with another male dog.

He is reactive towards small dogs, particularly after having long-term exposure to neighbouring small dogs barking at him through the fence, so he needs a home without small dogs.

Blue has not been tested with cats, so a cat-free home is recommended.

WHY IS BLUE LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME?

Blue currently lives with two other German Shepherds. Unfortunately, Blue is not getting along with the younger male Shepherd.

BLUE'S DREAM HOME

We're looking for someone who can offer Blue:

- A secure yard
- Lots of walks and daily exercise
- Space to run, play and enjoy his water games!
- Mental stimulation and enrichment
- Plenty of one-on-one attention
- Consistent routines and clear boundaries
- Children aged 10+ if children are in the home
- No other male dogs
- No small dogs
- Preferably no cats due to being untested

Blue has spent most of his life with his family and is ready for a fresh start with someone who understands German Shepherds and will give him the structure, exercise and love he needs.

If you're looking for a loyal, active and intelligent Shepherd to share your adventures with, Blue could be your boy.
